Puppy Basics (AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy): This class focuses on teaching puppies and their owners the first important steps to becoming responsible members of the community. Puppies must be under 1 year of age when the first class begins and should strive to attend all 6 weeks to obtain the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy designation. There are no prerequisites for this class. S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and a Responsible owner. During this class, you and your puppy will take the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy tests. Puppies who pass the tests are eligible to receive an award certificate as well as a S.T.A.R. Puppy medal from the American Kennel Club. Puppies do not have to be purebred or AKC registered to earn the S.T.A.R. recognition.
